As part of Google’s User Experience Designer Certification course. I created a specialized mobile app for a conceptual Japanese restaurant. The goal when designing this app was to ensure that it was both usable and accessible, and enabled users to enjoy dining out in a variety of scenarios.
Over the course of a week, I interviewed several people who had reported to use some type of restaurant mobile app before. I wanted to understand the backgrounds of the users, how each one experienced the apps, and what caused them to have those experiences.
I then conducted two rounds of usability studies. During both rounds, I interviewed 5 participants and asked them to follow the apps main user flows. The feedback that I received during the usability studies helped me find aspects of the design that needed to be refined.
By the end of this project, users were able to successfully complete the app’s main user flows: make an order, check on its progress, and make a reservation. I referenced Google's design system when designing the prototypes in Figma.
